Join us Tuesday, January 5th as Sara Gregware, AKC Certified Junior Showmanship Judge and Professional Handler, shares her extensive experience in professional handling, caring for difficult dogs, fostering juniors, and judging junior showmanship. Junior Handlers will have an opportunity to hear her story and learn from her experiences and unique viewpoint. Sara brings a variety of perspectives with her when she steps into the ring to judge juniors.

I was inspired to invite Sara when we chatted about her experience judging junior showmanship, at recent dog show. I loved hearing her thought process and why she chooses to award one junior over another. She shared a specific example of her selection process when she awarded a junior with a dog that was misbehaving. As she watched the junior handle the challenging dog, Sara recognized the high level of skill it required to manage and direct a dog while it was mis-behaving.

Sara personally has loads of knowledge in the area of caring for and managing difficult dogs. I’ve seen her in action. She rarely has an easy push button dog to show. Most of her dogs are challenging and require her significant handling expertise, patience and guidance.

For many years, Sara traveled throughout the country attending more than 130 shows a year. For a time, she handled dogs full throttle, carrying and showing 15-20 dogs per show with two assistants and a junior assistant. She always strove to provide the best handling and care possible.

Over the years, Sara has worked one-on-one with several junior handlers. Each was required to learn how to properly and professionally care for the dogs in her care and present them professionally as well. All of her mentees went on to became top juniors, winning placements at Westminster, Royal Canin, and National Invite, as well as earning many scholarships.

About Meet the ProfessionalS

Meet the Professionals for Junior Handlers is a monthly webinar facilitated by Kelly Lyn Marquis and WinAll Coaching LLC. The purpose of the program is to bridge the gap between professional dog show handlers and junior handlers who aspire to become pros. It provides an opportunity for juniors to get to know handlers on a more personal level, learn unique training tips and methods, and create an open forum for juniors to access the expertise of top professionals nationwide. Junior handlers are typically between 9 and 18 years old.

The program is designed for junior handlers but anyone interested in professional handling is welcome to attend.
